Ahh, the school holidays. Every parent has likely heard this phrase more than once during this period. In today's fast-paced world, technology has taken a greater hold of our daily lives, and its easy to fall into the trap of giving the children 'tech time' as it keeps them occupied, entertained, and quiet.
Your children's posture may be adversely affected by too much technology time over the break, and with the heat in Alice Springs, it can be difficult to think of things to do outside the house that will take the kids minds away from the screens and into something more productive. Here are a few ideas:
School Holidays @ the Library
There are regular activity options being held at the Alice Springs Library over the Christmas period. From making their own wrapping paper, to summer reading clubs, and some special 'First Aid Storytime' sessions there will be plenty to occupy children of all ages.

Splash Party - Alice Springs Aquatic and Leisure Centre
December 31st and January 6th and January 13th are some of the calendared events coming up at ASALC. Why not check out their facility and escape the heat for a bit of fun at the pool
Cost - Free (for calendar events)

For those not after organised events, the playgrounds are often too hot out in the daytime hours, but there are a couple of play areas around town where the kids can 'leave all their energy': Bunnings has a sheltered play area next to their cafe, the fast food chains (McDonald's and Hungry Jacks) have some play facilities for the kids, also there are the local clubs - Gillen Club, Club Eastside which both have kids play areas, and lets not forget our summertime choice - Gap View Hotel. Plenty of room for the children, a swimming pool, etc.
However you choose to pass the time, please stay safe, sun smart, and have a wonderful festive period. We will be open throughout the period for anyone that needs us. Our Christmas trading hours are on the main page of the website alicespringschiro.com.au
